I've been messaging chinese people on facebook living in North Carolina as a way to try and find people to teach, and one person actually offered me a job to come work for her company, she even set up a time to meet on zoom to discuss about the job despite me telling her several times I'm too busy full time as a missionary . I was tempted to say yes, maybe she will hire me after the mission haha. That was honestly the most success I've had with facebook finding so far, but it's a work in progress haha. Definitely different trying to contact Chinese people over facebook.
In terms of other chinese contacts, an older chinese couple came and played pickleball, and they were talking chinese so I naturally decided to street contact them like I did back in australia, and the husband destroyed me haha. I swear older chinese men are the coldest people of all time, the wife was really nice to us but he was extra cold (these old guys just reject you very blatantly and abruptly). Its ok though because I got a reminder of what it was like street contacting the same street in Australia everyday for 4 months 🥰.
Speaking of Australia, our new mission president and wife the Maurers, from BRISBANE australia are coming to take over our mission field this thursday.... in my last area in Australia I actually served in President Maurers brothers ward, lots of small connections. Better start practicing my aussie slang again for his arrival hahaha!
